My feeling is the west media should be honest. The west lives in under democracy system, and the honesty is very important for people to judge and make the right decision. However, what I saw is there are too many propagandas in the west media. China is not a democratic country; propaganda is not a serious issue because decisions are made by experts. But the west media cheating their own nationals will do more harm to the society.

Whigs were generally considered against slavery and Democrats pro slavery at this time (this is an obvious generalization as not every person in their party completely aligns with their party's views). That being said we switched to our Third Political Party System in 1850 during the Civil War where the Republicans emerged as the anti-slavery party in place of the Whigs. Their view during the 3rd political party system (which lasted from 1850-1892) aren't the same as our 6th and 7th political party systems (which have lasted from the 1980's up till now). The person commenting probably doesn't even remember the 5th or 6th political party systems that's how young they are...
